competitive pathway
Our performance squad swimmers are squad members who are well trained and competitive athletes who are committed to working towards reaching their athletic potential.
The squads cater for swimmers who are targeting competing at a regional & National level or above.
All training sessions continue to focus on technique and efficiency while building athlete’s endurance and the ability to race by perfecting their race craft. Annual training volume will increase, and swimmers will train at a higher intensity. Squad members in our performance squads will now be expected to place more emphasis on dry-land training to build strength and flexibility to assist with athletic resilience and full body strength.
The Senior Performance Squad is Winchester City Swimming Club’s top squad and athletes who reach this squad are committed to training and competing at Regional and National Competitions. The squad is made up of high performing swimmers ranging from Age Group to Open age and swimmers who have chosen swimming as their priority sport.
Technique, endurance, strength and power remain the cornerstone of the Performance Squads, with swimmers working through complex and often individualised training programs focused on peak performance at various National competitions.
