Community Programme supporting access and opportunity

Helping to make swimming an integral part of our community in Winchester

As a charity, Winchester City Swimming Club has a clear vision for aquatics provision across the City and local area, so in addition to our busy schedule of lessons, training and competition, we run a number of additional programmes for the community.

Access and opportunity

WCSC are aware not all opportunities and facilities are accessible to the wider community. The club is working with Winchester Go LD, a local charity which enables adults with learning disabilities to live life to the full with the choices and independence that they want, and Everyone Active, the operator at the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park, to remove barriers and ensure swimming is an accessible activity for all.

Everyone Active now offer two disability swimming sessions at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park, for anyone with a disability, long term medical or health condition and their family members or support if needed. These are held at the following times:

  • Friday evenings from 7pm to 7.55pm in the main pool
  • Thursday lunchtime in the learner pool at 12.00pm to 1pm.

The sessions costs £2 per swimmer (there is no charge for supporting swimmers), and it is not necessary to book in advance. For more information please contact Winchester Sport and Leisure Park 01962 848700
