Charity Operations Manager

Charity Operations Manager for Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club, reporting to the Board of Trustees. We are looking for an inspirational leader for the day to day management of the Charity, including operations, Line management and Membership Relations.

The Charity Operations Manager is a pivotal role at Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club. We are looking for an inspirational leader who together with the Board of Trustees, will set the strategic direction of the charity. As Charity Operations Manager, you’ll have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the charity, working with the staff and volunteer team to manage the clubs lesson programmes, community, and competitive swimming squads.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Primary: Lead and be seen as a leader with outstanding communication skills with the proven ability to positively influence.
  • Primary: Possess clear organisational and management expertise. Primary: Excellent financial and budget management skills.
  • Primary: Have full understanding of requirements, both in terms of financial and regulatory matters, of running a charity.
  • Secondary: Form excellent working relationships with relevant local groups as required in support of the club strategy.
  • Secondary: Swim or sports industry experience preferable.

WCPSC ROLE

Swimming Coach

The Coach will hold a critical role in the Club working within our coaching team consolidating and improving all of our swimmers across various pathways with a mix of coaching delivery and programme administration to ensure the effective delivery of the Club Programme.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coach within the Club Programme, maximising swimming potential, enjoyment and retention.
  • Work as part of the coaching team within the Club Programme to ensure effective recruitment of swimmers into, and delivery of, the Programme. 
  • Support the identification of open meets, galas and swimming leagues for Club swimmers.
  • Attend relevant competitions, open meets and club events.
  • Help establish and drive a culture of best practice and continuous improvement through constructive challenge and innovation.
  • Support and implement the Charity’s strategy, identity and philosophy.
  • Be an effective communicator within the Club and the community.

The candidate - technical:

  • Hold the Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award or higher, with significant experience.
  • Proven track record of club coaching, including knowledge (and preferably recent experience) of Swim England’s swimmer development pathway, as well as the use of sports science techniques in coaching practice.
  • Strong, effective leadership and organisational skills to design, coordinate and organise the swimming programme and contribute to the charity’s broader swimming provision.
  • Strong approach to athlete welfare and a good understanding of Wavepower. 

The candidate - personal attributes:

  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the Club, including other coaching and administrative staff, swimmers and their parents, as well as volunteers.
  • Proven analytical and planning skills, as well as good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An effective communicator, within the Club and the community, and good with social and traditional media engagement.
  • The skills and ability to lead, motivate, and mentor within the coaching team.
  • A flexible approach to working hours  Effective time management, planning and organisation
