The Board of Trustees of Winchester City Swimming Club is delighted to announce the appointment of David Smith as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer. David, who previously served as the club’s Welfare Officer, has shown an unwavering dedication to its members' well-being and the overall growth of the club. Starting officially on 14th April, the club is confident that his experience and passion will drive its continued success.

David expressed his enthusiasm for the role: "I feel privileged and excited to be taking on this position, and I look forward to working alongside everyone associated with the club.”

As a dedicated swim parent, David has experienced firsthand the commitment required to support a competitive swimmer. David acknowledges that swimming is a unique challenge in terms of dedication and time commitment. He is passionate about developing the club’s connections within the local community, recognising the potential for increased volunteer involvement and expanding opportunities for those who may not otherwise have access to swimming. As a qualified swim teacher and coach himself, David is incredibly passionate about ensuring all children have the opportunity to learn to swim. He is encouraged by the number of competitive swimmers involved in the club’s lesson programme, passing on their knowledge and passion to the next generation.

David’s love of sport began in childhood, spanning football, athletics, and later, triathlon. He has managed youth football teams, coached athletics, and competed in Ironman-distance triathlons and endurance challenges. His extensive sporting background fuels his commitment to Winchester City Swimming Club’s mission and ongoing success. He is enthusiastic about supporting the club’s talented coaching and teaching team and their focus on developing swimmers to their fullest potential. He acknowledges the club’s exceptional volunteers, Trustees, and parents, all of whom contribute to making Winchester City Swimming Club a thriving community. Furthermore, Winchester’s world-class facilities and successful Open Meets have positioned the club as a premier venue for high-level competitions. David is eager to build on this reputation.
