To ensure continued use of all of our facilities (K=Oaklands Community Pool, Kings School, St Swithuns School, River Park and the Army Training Regiment (ATR)) we must conform to all reasonable requests made by the pool operators. Would all swimmers and parents please adhere to the following:

Oaklands Community Pool

It is imperative that parents/guardians check a coach is in attendance and your child has reached poolside/gym before leaving them for training, and that you are back in plenty of time before the end of a session to take responsibility for them when they leave poolside. The coach is only responsible for swimmer(s) whilst they are in the organised poolside session.
As per the requirement of the pool provider, all swimmers need to :
– Shower in the poolside showers before entering the pool
– Wear a swim cap during training

Parents should not come on to poolside, either to speak with swimmers or with coaches, during sessions. As a community facility, swimmers and parents must respect the members of the public also using the facilities. In the unlikely event of any swimmer/parent abusing the use of any of our facilities or members of staff, the swimmer will be at risk of being suspended from all training sessions.

Army Training Regiment (ATR)

This is a facility that the club have privilege access to and it is a very important asset to the club and one of that we must ensure we always have use of. As a military establishment we have no control over access and entry rules, these can be changed without notice and we must accept them. Entry will be from 5pm, with the sessions from 5:30pm (once a coach is present).

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evening sessions – Land Training will take place in the gym next to the swimming pool. Swimmers arriving later than the start of land training should go straight to poolside, report to the coach there and be ready for the start of the pool session. All swimmers must bring their bag, clothes and belongings neatly onto poolside, to allow other groups/squads to change.

No snacks, sweets, gum or food of any kind is allowed on poolside. This is a major issue for the ATR staff. swimmers will be asked to sit out for the remainder of the session where they are found eating on poolside.

When swimmers arrive for the land training sessions, if the hall is in use, you must wait sensibly in the corridor outside. If the hall is free, you may enter the hall sensibly. AT NO TIME are swimmers allowed to use/misuse ATR equipment, and are only allowed to use the equipment when instructed to do so by the coach of the session. The access road from the main gate to the car park has a speed limit of 15mph, and during the hours of darkness cars must approach the gate with SIDE LIGHTS ONLY. Parents dropping off swimmers MUST NOT drive up the pathway nearer the doors, you must turn right and drive into the car park as a dropping off/picking up point for swimmers.

When entering the pool, all users must use the main access door on the upper level. When leaving the pool, all users may leave via the main access door on the upper level OR the access door in the swimming pool corridor after 8pm. From 8pm onwards, the swimming pool viewing balcony and whole upper level will be closed by the ATR staff. therefore, swimmers and parents/guardians must access via the door on the swimming changing room corridor. Swimmers must be changed and out the changing rooms by at the very latest 9:15pm prompt.

ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS must come over to the pool to drop off/collect their swimmers from the training session, particularly on dark nights! (no parents/guardians are to stand in the changing room corridors, either wait in the gym corridor or outside). There is a road without a crossing or pathway between the pool and the car park. Your swimmer/s are parent/guardian’s responsibility.

Prior to training at the ATR, swimmers need to obtain a security pass by submitting their personal details via vickyh@wcpsc.org.uk to the ATR. These details include name, dob, address and telephone number. Parent(s)/guardian(s) accompanying the swimmer will also be required to obtain a security pass and will need to submit their details the same way, along with details of the car(s) that will be used (make, model, colour and registration number). Siblings of swimmers attending training at the ATR will not be allowed entry and individual swimmers should be accompanied by 1 adult only.

When the pool is not in use prior to WCPSC sessions, swimmers will be allowed poolside 15 minutes prior to the start of a session providing a WCPSC coach and lifeguard is in attendance.

It is imperative that parents/guardians check a coach is in attendance and your child has reached poolside/gym before leaving them for training, and that you are back in plenty of time before the end of a session to take responsibility for them when they leave poolside/gym. The coach is only responsible for the swimmer(s) whilst they are in the organised poolside/gym session.

In the unlikely event of any swimmer/parent abusing the use of any of our facilities or members of staff, the swimmer will be at risk of being suspended from all training sessions.

St Swithuns School

Saturday morining sessions: the pool building will be open from 5:45am. Swimmers are encouraged to arrive and begin pre-pool warm ups on poolside. Before entering the changing rooms or walking onto poolside all pool users must remove outdoor footwear.

Swimmers are asked to bring all of their belongings onto poolside at the beginning of the session, so as to enable the lessons swimmers coming in later to have full access to the changing rooms. At 8am prompt, swimmers will be asked to leave the poolside sensibly, by the coach, and will have until 8:15am to get changed and leave the building

At the early morning session, parents are asked to park their cars in the Swimming Pool Car park, unless otherwise advised by their centre staff (this can change when the school has events on). St Swithun’s operates a one-way traffic system. Please DO NOT drive on to the site through the exit road gates (nearest the pool). ALL pool goers should arrive on site through the main school entrance and follow directions for the swimming pool car park.

PLEASE DO NOT DROP SWIMMERS OFF OR PARK ON THE ROAD OPPOSITE THE POOL STEPS/ENTRANCE! This is preventing other car users being able to pass safely and causes delays. Swimmers getting out of cars are at risk! Please be mindful of other site users, and children in residence by pulling into the designated safe area – the swimming pool car park.

We must adhere to the Photography Policy of St Swithun’s School; therefore, parents/guardians must request the permission of pool staff before using any camera or mobile image device.

It is imperative that parents/guardians check a coach is in attendance and your child has reached poolside/gym before leaving them for training, and that you are back in plenty of time before the end of a session to take responsibility for them when they leave poolside. The coach is only responsible for the swimmer(s) whilst they are in the organised poolside session.

When people are outside taking a break during competition events held at St Swithuns, please stay close to the entrance of the building and not stray to other parts of the school. We have had accidents occur during dark evenings when swimmers have tripped and fallen. We remind you that St Swithun’s is a non-smoking site.

Should any swimmer or parent found to be flouting school & pool safety rules including those mentioned above, or abusing in any way the use of any of our facilities or members of staff, the individual will be asked to leave site immediately. The swimmer will also be at risk of being suspended from any further training sessions.

In the unlikely event of any swimmer/parent abusing the use of any of our facilities or members of staff, the swimmer will be at risk of being suspended from all training sessions. Swimmers arriving late for sessions – ALL Venues
Please make every effort to arrive on time to training sessions. Swimmers should be ready poolside at the very least 5 minutes prior to the start of their session (longer where possible – which is often the case!) and carry out appropriate land warm-ups where/when appropriate.

If a swimmer is late, the coach will assess each and every situation and, if possible, the swimmer will be allowed to train. However, if in the opinion of the coach is that the late arrival of a swimmer will impact upon the session in progress, or be disruptive to the remainder of the squad, the swimmer will not be allowed to swim.

In these circumstances the swimmer will be asked to remain poolside until the end of the session unless the parent(s) are still present, in which case they may take the swimmer home. Swimmers own responsibility for Valuables – ALL Venues Swimmers are also advised not to leave any items of value unattended in the changing rooms of any pool. It is the individual swimmers own risk to bring items of value to a venue.
