Performance Squad Criteria

Elite

Squad Aims:

Elite is for Swimmers targeting International Competitions, ISL, World & European Junior Championships, British Selection Trials and the British Summer & Winter Championships.

Squad Ages:

Males: 17+ Years | Females: 16+ Years

Squad Notes:

  • Swimmers are to be assessed and selected by the Head Performance Coach (HPC).
  • Swimmers may be admitted or retained within the squad on a probationary period (3 months).
  • Swimmers must be able to demonstrate improvement and progress based on goals set with the HPC during both training and at designated Level 1 Competitions (as set in the Competition Calendar).
  • All Squad Movements are at the discretion of the HPC.

Qualifying Criteria (at least 3 from the following in bold):

  • International Swimmers from 2019 Onwards (including ISL Seasons 1& 2).
  • GB National Senior & Youth Swimmers from 2019 Onwards (Summer & Winter Championships).
  • British Olympic Trials 2020 and Selection Trial Qualifiers 2021.
  • A minimum of 659 FINA Points in one LC Event from Best Times from January 2020.
  • 100% Commitment to the Training Programme as set by the HPC.
  • Commitment to Team Events (Arena League, Regional/National Relays).
  • Signed and Returned copies of the Athlete Agreement.
  • Minimum of 8-9 Pool Sessions per Week.
  • Full Time Attendance (both Pool and S&C).
  • Squad will be reviewed 31st December 2021.

Exit Criteria:

  • Unable to attain the relevant Performance Standard of the Squad.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Elite Training Commitment, as agreed with the HPC.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Elite Competition Commitment, as per the Competition Calendar.
  • Showing no progress towards achieving the Elite Required Standards.
  • Training at other clubs or seeking additional coaching/technical sessions without the approval of the HPC.
  • Demonstrating a bad attitude towards the programme, coaches and teammates.

Elite Sprint

Squad Aims:

Elite Sprint is for Swimmers targeting International Senior Competitions, ISL, British Selection Trials and the British Summer & Winter Championships.

Squad Ages:

Males: 19+ Years | Females: 19+ Years

Squad Notes:

  • Swimmers are to be assessed and selected by the Head Performance Coach (HPC).
  • Swimmers may be admitted or retained within the squad on a probationary period (3 months).
  • Swimmers must be able to demonstrate improvement and progress based on goals set with the HPC during both training and at designated Level 1 Competitions (as set in the Competition Calendar).
  • All Squad Movements are at the discretion of the HPC.

Qualifying Criteria (at least 2 from the following in bold):

  • Senior International Swimmers from 2019 Onwards (Including ISL Seasons 1&2).
  • Senior GB National Swimmers from 2019 Onwards (from both Summer LC & Winter SC Championships).
  • British Olympic Trials Qualifiers 2020 or Selection Trial Qualifiers 2021.
  • Minimum of 659 FINA Points in at least one LC or SC event from Best times from Nov 2019.
  • 100% Commitment to the Training Programme as set by the HPC.
  • Commitment to Team Events (Arena League, Regional/National Relays).
  • Signed and Returned copies of the Athlete Agreement.
  • Full Time Attendance based on Individual Programme, as agreed with the HPC (both Pool and S&C).
  • Minimum of 7 Pool Sessions per Week.
  • Squad will be reviewed 31st December 2021.

Consideration Criteria:

  • Swimmers aged 21 years and older ‘Sprint Specialists’ at Regional Standard who demonstrate potential to make a GB National QT within a 12 month period.

Exit Criteria:

  • Unable to attain the relevant Performance Standard of the Squad.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Elite Sprint Training Commitment, as agreed with the HPC.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Elite Sprint Competition Commitment, as per the Competition Calendar.
  • Training at other clubs or seeking additional coaching/technical sessions without the approval of the HPC (both Pool and S&C).
  • Demonstrating a bad attitude towards the programme, coaches and teammates.

Senior Performance

Squad Aims:

Senior Performance is for swimmers targeting National Summer Meets and South East Regional Youth Championships. They will be attending Level 1 and Level 2 Open Meets, as set in the Annual Competition Calendar.

Squad Ages:

Males: 17+ Years | Females: 16+ Years

Squad Notes:

  • Swimmers are to be assessed and selected by the Head Performance Coach (HPC).
  • Swimmers may be admitted or retained within the squad on a probationary period (3 months).
  • Swimmers must be able to demonstrate improvement and progress based on goals set with the HPC during both training and at designated Level 1 and Level 2 Competitions (as set in the Competition Calendar).
  • Maximum Squad Capacity 10 Swimmers.
  • All Squad Movements are at the discretion of the HPC.

Qualifying Criteria (at least one from the following in bold):

  • GB National Youth Qualifier from 2019 Onwards.
  • Summer Meet Qualifiers from 2019 Onwards.
  • South East Regional Qualifier from 2019 Onwards.
  • Over 547 FINA Points in their Main Event from Best Times from July 2019.
  • 100% Commitment to the Training Programme as set by the HPC.
  • Commitment to Team Events (Arena League, Regional/County Relays).
  • Signed and Returned copies of the Athlete Agreement.
  • Minimum of 7 Pool Sessions per Week.
  • Be able to maintain training standards similar to the Elite Squad.
  • Junior Wildcards may be allocated, providing swimmers are able to maintain Senior Performance level training standards. These Wildcards will be reviewed every 3 months and will be at the discretion of the HPC.
  • Squad will be reviewed 31st December 2021.

Exit Criteria:

  • Unable to attain the relevant Performance Standard of the Squad.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Senior Performance Training Commitment, as agreed with the HPC.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Senior Performance Competition Commitment, as per the Competition Calendar.
  • Showing no progress towards achieving the Senior Performance Required Standards.
  • Training at other clubs or seeking additional coaching/technical sessions without the approval of the HPC.

Intermediate Performance

Squad Aims:

Intermediate Performance is for swimmers targeting National Summer Meets and the South East Regional Youth & Age Group Championships. They will attend Level 1 and Level 2 Open Meets, as set in the Annual Competition Calendar.

Squad Ages:

Males: 14-17 Years | Females: 13-16 Years

Squad Notes:

  • Swimmers are to be assessed and selected by the Head Performance Coach (HPC).
  • Swimmers may be admitted or retained within the squad on a probationary period (3 months).
  • Swimmers must be able to demonstrate improvement and progress based on goals set with the HPC during both training and at designated Level 1 and Level 2 Competitions (as set in the Competition Calendar).
  • If the Squad reaches maximum capacity (12 Swimmers), then final selections will be based on any South East Regional finalist from 2019 with the highest FINA Points (taken from performances from Jan 2020 in both Long & Short Course Events).
  • Maximum Squad Capacity 12 Swimmers.
  • All Squad Movements are at the discretion of the HPC.

Qualifying Criteria:

  • Regional Medalists from 2019 Onwards.
  • Regional Finalists from 2019 Onwards.
  • At least 3 South East Regional Automatic Qualifying Times from 2019 Onwards. Level X or In-House Competition Results are NOT permitted.
  • 100% Commitment to the Training Programme as set by the HPC.
  • Commitment to Team Events (Arena League, Regional/County Relays).
  • Signed and Returned copies of the Athlete Agreement (information below).
  • Minimum of 7 Pool Sessions and All Land Training Session each Week.
  • Squad will be reviewed 31st December 2021.

Exit Criteria:

  • Unable to attain the relevant Performance Standard of the Squad.
  • Consistently late to sessions without agreement of the Lead Coach.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Intermediate Performance Training Commitment, as agreed with the HPC.
  • Consistently unable to maintain the Intermediate Performance Competition Commitment, as per the Competition Calendar.
  • Showing no progress towards achieving the Intermediate Performance Required Standards.
  • Training at other clubs or seeking additional coaching/technical sessions without the approval of the HPC.
