The pool and our lessons may be a little different to what you would normally experience however we have created a step by step plan of what to expect on your arrival:
– Swimmers will need to arrive at Kings School “beach ready” with their costume on and either clothes or a towel/poncho over the top.
– They should enter the school via the main gates where they will meet our Covid Liaison Officer outside the front of the Community Sports Centre.
– Our Covid Liaison Officer will register them and ask them to sign a “Health Declaration Form”, if they haven’t done so already. They will explain which lane they are in, who their teacher is and what colour group they are in. She will also ask that all swimmers use hand sanitiser.
– Swimmers will be allocated a coloured spot on the floor where they can wait until their teacher comes to collect them to take to the poolside. We encourage swimmers to take minimal possessions on to the poolside with them, however they are allowed to take a small plastic bag with them. Parents are not allowed to follow their swimmers into the building.
– Teachers will introduce themselves to their swimmers and when ready, walk them around to their corresponding spots on the poolside. Teachers will be wearing masks when walking swimmers to and from their lessons.
– Once the swimmers reach their spots on poolside, teachers can go through the register and remind swimmers of the Covid guidelines. There will be no teaching assistants in the water and all teachers will teach from the poolside. Widths classes will have no more than 3 swimmers in and lengths classes will have no more than 4 swimmers in. Swimmers will not share equipment. The length lane ropes will have the buoys spread out so they mark every 2m down the length of the pool. Swimmers will have access to the toilet facilities via the changing rooms.
– Lessons will finish promptly and once finished swimmers will be asked to climb out and stand on their coloured spot on the poolside. Once all swimmers are out of the water our lesson supervisor will ask all swimmers to walk around the poolside (keeping 2m apart) and out through the exit to waiting parents. Swimmers will exit the pool and building still in their swimming costume with a towel or toweling robe over the top of their swimming costume and crocs or flip flops on their feet.
– Certificates and a brief description about each swimmers progress throughout the week will be emailed out to you over the weekend.

We have also put together a short video about the restrictions we have put in place. You can find it here
