CEO Update

My attentions have turned to the forthcoming Trustee meeting on the 11 November. Although the agenda hasn’t been finalised, I am keen to do a health check on the Charity’s Constitution and to start thinking about the AGM in January. Over November and December we will obviously be working on the Annual Report and finalising the end of year accounts

We are also out to advert for more coaching support that will hopefully alleviate some of the pressure at the moment. Please spread the word and help us find some excellent candidates. You can find the link to the advert here.

I have been doing more work with Katie Thorman, reviewing the volunteer roles and groups we need help service the charity. I am taking a volunteer structure and ways of working to the Management Team meeting this week for consideration and will be looking for further input from the wider membership.

The last bit of news is that we’ve recently been tying up an agreement with a person connected to the club to pursue sponsorship on the charity’s behalf. Over the next couple of months we hope to take advantage of those local organisations that are undertaking their planning for a Jan 1 new financial year and can build new sponsorship into their thinking.

Social Event for parents, coaches and volunteers

Open Invite to Social for parents, coaches and volunteers on November 4th at The Holiday Inn, Morn Hill, Winchester after the final session of the Club Champs.

This is an opportunity to just be together, have a drink together and maybe have a meal or a bar snack after a very busy couple of weekends. All are welcome to join us.

 Community

Winchester Round Table Fireworks

We would encourage people to attend the excellent bonfire and fireworks event this Saturday hosted by Winchester Round Table.  Monies raised from this evening go to a number of very good causes, including some of the community programmes we run.  For more information go to the following website https://winchesterbonfire.co.uk

The following role is still vacant. If you think this could be something you are interested in and want to find out more about the role, please contact Katie Thorman or Amanda Frisby.

Open Meets Administrator/ Data Inputter

Alison Oakley (Open Meets Co-ordinator) is looking for a volunteer to join her team. The role requires the volunteer to:

  • Assist her team in inputting data for open meets i.e. entry times
  • Meet at ATR during squad training times in the evenings when is required
  • Input some data from home as required and liaise with Alison via email.

The time commitment required for this role would vary depending on the number of Open Meets occurring but would average 2 hours a week. The volunteer would be fully supported in this role and be working as part of a team.

To help with this role please contact Katie Thorman and Amanda Frisby on volunteers@wcpsc.org.uk

Training Notices

Preparation and Development squads – Saturday 4th November – This Saturday the session will be moving to St Swithuns School from 6am-7am. This is due to Club Championships and Regional Championships and Lessons assessments all falling on the same day.    Please note from the Rules for Pools: the drop-off/pick up point at the school is the the car park to the side of the Centre, rather than the road in front of the doors. Please can swimmers also remove their shoes and put them on the racks by the entrance to the changing rooms.

Christmas Timetable  This week we have had notification from Winchester College that there will be an extended shut down due to building inspections being carried out.  Therefore the Christmas Timetable will be extended to cover from 11th December to 6th January.  This will be sent out as soon as possible.   We are exploring the usual options for alternative pool time at other local pools and also at Aldershot and Guildford pools.
