CEO Update

Hi all, and welcome to the festive season!

Having taken my five year old daughter for an early wander around the Christmas Market, seeing the ice-rink gave me an idea. If you are skating at the cathedral ice-rink this year I will supply a prize for the best photo of anyone pictured with one of the little penguins!! The more members in the photo with a Penguin the better! Send your photos into any of the management team, Kim, Vicky or myself, and we’ll select the best one.

I have spent a couple of hours with Darren Whitt this week looking at new IT management systems. The charity have previously invested in a public-facing website that provides general information for prospective members and specific information for current members, including weekly newsletters such as these. Working with Trustees, administrators, coaches and volunteers, it has been determined that further capabilities are required to enable the charity to operate more effectively and efficiently through the use of IT technologies. Darren, and the small team of IT volunteers, have done a comprehensive job of assessing nine different systems and we are close to making a final decision in the coming weeks. We look forward to testing elements with you and then integrating the system piece by piece over the coming months.

It was good to be at another squad meeting this week, this time with the Excel swimmers. It struck me again what a great bunch of people we have in the club, and I was impressed with their knowledge of their club. Most knew exactly what type of organisation we are, how many squads we have, how many members we have overall as well as how many squad swimmers, to name a but a few of the quiz questions I threw at them. I think it helped I had prizes. Anyway, I look forward to meeting even more squads soon.
