Congratulations to Nicky from our adult lessons….
Nicky has been involved in the club for many years, originally training in squads. In 2014/15 Nicky completed two 5k swims, but then had to have a major operation. Following the operation Nicky approached the club to see if WCPSC could help with her recovery in the adult lessons programme. By Christmas 2016 Nicky decided to push herself and undertake another 5k by April 2017. This has involved many weeks of effort to build strength and stamina. Last Saturday Nicky achieved her goal by swimming 5k, cheered on by her family and teachers, raising funds for Wessex Cancer through sponsorship.
Nicky’s children have developed through the club’s lessons and squads and daughter went on to become a teacher, now teaching abroad. Her son competed at the Hampshire relays and youngest daughter swims in the clubs lessons programme.
Such an inspiring story – well done Nicky!

Winchester Primary Schools Gala – HELP NEEDED
This year on the morning of Friday June 9th we are holding our biggest event of the year with about 300 children from over 25 Winchester & district Primary Schools attending. This is a fun packed morning with all swimmers not only enjoying the gala but also receiving a T shirt and goody bag each.
However to run this event we need to raise nearly £3,000. To do this we need YOUR help please.
The attached letter gives an idea of the many ways that employers, businesses or individuals could support this event. Please would you look at it and consider whether this is something you could join in with, maybe print it and take it to your employer or local businesses. Maybe you feel you could give a little time to help co-ordinate the fund raising? Maybe you would like to give an individual donation?
Every little help is very much appreciated.
Please contact Thelma at firstname.lastname@example.org with every offer of help both with fundraising or to help on the day.
Thank you to Kerrie
Thank you to Kerrie, Swimming Development Co-ordinator, who unfortunately will be leaving the club shortly to focus on her swimming teaching. Kerrie says “I have only been with Penguins for a year, but in that year I have learnt a lot and I have been surrounded by a great team. It has been a very enjoyable year!”
