We are now live with a job advert and details for a new Head Coach. You can see the details by clicking here. Many thanks to all those people that provided input on the job information, it really helped shape it. The closing date is the 13th of April and we are hoping for high quality candidates. If you are networked in with coaches or clubs, please pass on the job details as we would like the advert to have as much exposure as possible.
Two weeks ago I mentioned that the Board of Trustees had been busy redrafting the constitution and making plans to expand the Board. We are now welcoming feedback on those documents, either by emailing it into myself or attending a meeting next Thursday at 6.30pm at Winchester Racquets and Fitness. More details on this can be found here.
A big thanks must go to the team that delivered the Forest of Bere meet last weekend. I have received feedback that it went really well, the swimmers had a great day, and the visiting clubs seemed pleased too. This is a meet we have hosted jointly with Havant and Waterlooville Swimming Club for two years now and look forward to running an even more successful event next year.
More news next week.
A special mention to Isla Caustick winning TOP 13/Under Female for her performance in the 400m Freestyle, Cerys Prince-Rayner for achieving not one but two regional times and Coach Jacob Randle-Bissell posting a personal best after 2.5 years to win the Men’s 50m breaststroke!A big thank you also to the volunteers who helped out at this years meet.
Primary Schools Gala - Friday 8th June 2018
The WCPSC Annual Primary Schools Gala is our biggest event of the year and we need at least 50 volunteers to help on the morning to run this amazing event. It’s great fun to be involved with, so if you can spare a few hours on the day please do let Thelma know.
We also publish a programme for the event so if you or anyone you know would be interested in placing an advertisement in the programme, or would like to sponsor the event please contact Thelma for more information.

ISABELLE HARRISON is joining us this Easter Lessons Holiday Course! She will be teaching during Week 2 and taking Stages 5a, Young Advanced and 1:1 lessons.
Issy started working with WCPSC when she was 13 years old as a voluntary helper, but long before that she learnt to swim in the lessons programme before joining the competitive squad aged 8. As soon as she turned 16yrs old she qualified as a teacher – desperate to be able to teach like her older sister! She has since gone on to sit her Level 2 teaching qualification and Level 1 coaching qualification. She has been supervising the lessons programme for the last year and is known for her iconic pink supervising top. She works tirelessly to keep our programme running smoothly and takes great pride in mentoring new staff who have not only come through the competitive programme but also from outside the club. She currently coaches Foundation, Development and Junior & Senior Challenge squads. Isabelle is planning on moving to York in September to study Psychology but says she is planning on being back during the holidays to continue teaching and coaching!

We have recently added a comprehensive guide to swim competitions on the website here:
This includes a guide to the different types of competitions we enter (from galas to Nationals and beyond!); a guide to how to enter meets; and a glossary of some of the terms you may hear.
There is information relevant to all levels of swimmer, but those newer to the sport may find it particularly helpful.
