Minutes from the recent AGM are now available on the website for those of you who missed it. There is a Trustee meeting next week where we will further consider the discussions and observations from the meeting and outline actions.
A big well-done to all our swimmers who were at the County Championships recently. It was pleasing to hear how successful we were, topping the medal table, and equally as pleasing to hear about the high levels of team-work, engagement, inclusivity and conduct. Congratulations to Kim and the coaching team right across our pathway who have been preparing some of these swimmers for years.
If you swim at the ATR you will have received information relating to the changing rooms being out of action for a few weeks whilst they redecorate. Alternative arrangements are not ideal so please bear with them whilst they improve the facilities.
A quick note of congratulations to Tim O’Connor for becoming a fully qualified Judge Level 2. He completed his sessions and assessment recently at the County Championships.
Having pressed for greater clarity for some time now, we are pleased to have received an update from Swim England regarding our coaches and how they can be deployed. Our Level 1 Coaches can be used in sessions operating under the remit of delivering purposely designed sessions. This can be either alongside and supervised by a Level 2 or 3 coach on poolside, or alone but delivering a purposely designed session which has been agreed beforehand by a Level 2 or 3 Coach, and risk-assessed by the Club. This should provide us with a few more options when we need to find cover, although isn’t a long term solution.
Thank you to those people who provided feedback on the draft volunteer structure. I will be amending that and starting to bring people who are already working within it together very soon.
Finally, a warm official welcome to Connie Standen who ‘started’ with us this week as Lessons Manager and is already getting stuck in to the new role. We look forward to working with Connie and continuing to ensure our lessons programme provides the best possible start for anyone at the beginning of their swimming journey.

We had swimmers stepping up in all of the age groups and across all of the events and to come out on top with the most County Champions and Silver medallists across the 3 weekends demonstrates the strength and depth we have. Well done and Thank you to our fantastic coaching team, it really is a team effort!”

NEW - OPEN MEETS INFORMATION GUIDE!
We have recently added a comprehensive guide to swim competitions on the website here:
This includes a guide to the different types of competitions we enter (from galas to Nationals and beyond!); a guide to how to enter meets; and a glossary of some of the terms you may hear.
There is information relevant to all levels of swimmer, but those newer to the sport may find it particularly helpful.
Grand Prix Round 3
Welcome to our new swimmers who have joined us since GP2.
The Grand Prix Series is a competition just for swimmers in Foundation, Development and Junior Challenge, with a few invites from Junior Advanced lessons. Swimmers from other squads can enter on a time trial basis but not score points in the series.
It’s a great opportunity for swimmers to compete within their age groups and have a go at competing on every stroke, on all distances, throughout the series. Everyone scores points for getting a PB ( personal best time) and then position points within their age group.
Grand Prix 3 is on Saturday 3rd March at St Swithuns 2-5pm
The events in GP3 are the 200m breaststroke,100m freestyle and 50m butterfly. For the younger and less experienced swimmers I will be looking at their butterfly and giving guidance on whether they should enter the 50m fly.
Do read all the information on our website HERE and get your entry in before the closing date, which is Friday 16th February
Please do read all the attached information and if you have any queries contact Thelma.
