Club Information

CEO Update

Hi all, it looks like the sun is finally out again!
We held a very positive volunteer meeting this week for those leading up various work strands on behalf of the club. There was a strong desire to work more collaboratively, starting with getting together in a few weeks time again to establish some priorities for each area. We also discussed the need to recruit more volunteers and to see what other opportunities we are missing out on by undertaking an audit of our membership.
We have now short-listed our Head Coach candidates and will be interviewing during the week beginning 14 May, with most interviews being held on the 15 and 16th. Interviews will involve three elements; formal, informal and practical. Practicals will be held at the ATR and we may move a few squads around that week to ensure interviews are appropriate. All squads should still receive their full number of sessions however.
In addition to seeking a full time Head Coach we have also been trying to consolidate other parts of our coaching team. As such I am pleased to be able to share that Jacob Randle-Bissell has now joined us on a 30 hour a week contract through to August 2019. He is hoping to combine this with further studies at the University that will also benefit the club.
I have been liaising with the Charity Commission about proposed changes to our Constitution. They were due to be confirming our ability to update various clauses, including the wording to our Objects last week. They are running a few weeks behind schedule however, but as soon as I have confirmation we will schedule a General Meeting alongside a wider members event to agree changes, and also to recruit new Trustees.
I have been working with the coaching and lessons teams this week in the build up to a meeting with the City Council. We are aiming to provide more clarity on proposals for our potential club usage and engagement with a lessons programme.
Enjoy the bank holiday when it arrives!!

Good Luck

Good luck to all our 15 and overs competing at the Regionals this weekend.

Fareham Nomads Masters Meet

6 of us masters were let out on day release from our usual bingo afternoon and cottage pie supper to attend the Fareham Nomads gala at The Quays in Southampton.
The gala was a new one for 2018 and the Nomads did themselves proud, organising a great afternoon! There was a great turn out from across the country and a real range of age and ability.
After a good few hours and a lot of swims, we struggled under the weight of the medals round our necks, back to the dial-a-ride bus to take us all home. Tired but glad to have had a day out.

Ali Chapman, Cath Beckett, Helen May, Mark Whitaker , Adrian Phelan, Moises Peinado

Fantastic swimming from everyone at this years charity Swimathon held at Winchester’s river park leisure centre. With three of our penguin swimmers completing their challenges. Including Hannah Oxley from junior challenge who completed an individual 5km. Alice Whyte from academy squad also completed 5km with the fastest time recorded at river park this weekend. Finally Jessica Whyte from young advanced squad managed 50 lengths to help the rest of her team complete 5km. Well done to everyone who swam this weekend!
